Communication Using Calendar & Presentations

What is the "Power" of Google Calendar in communication? What can your Google Calendar do for you that your "Table Calendar" can not?

In this session we will explore how Google Calendar can be used for effective communication such as "Manage your schedule effectively", "Shared Calendars - school wide", "Map out the standards that you're teaching", "Create appointment slots", teach your students time management by scheduling due dates and review dates etc.

I used to be the type of person that would build a PowerPoint or Keynote presentation with colleagues, email the file back and forth until it became too large to email. In the 2nd part of this session I will share how to use Google Presentation to create amazing presentations, how we can share the presentation school-wide or even worldwide, how we can collaborate on a presentations, so everyone can work together on one project.

Creating Virtual Tours Using Google Earth
In this session we will explore how to use three tools found in Google Earth--Street View, Google 3d buildings, and Google Art Project--to construct virtual tours for your classroom. We will examine two different sorts of virtual tours, one to be used in class to immerse students more fully in the destination environment, and one to be used by students and parents while on trips such as a Week Without Walls. The presentation will briefly demo sample virtual tours, discuss how such tours fit into your lesson plans and learning objectives, as well as how to actually construct the tours. The presentation will be supported by a YouTube website that teachers can access and refer to when they return to their home schools and want to employ the techniques presented here. It should be a great opportunity for us to share what we each know about these powerful learning tools.
